Engaging in Conversations
that Matter

This course begins from a simple premise: to take care of what matters, we must strengthen our ability to engage in conversations.

Taking care of what matters in our lives — at work, in our relationships, on our teams, and in our communities — almost always involves other people, and it often begins in conversation. And yet, this is precisely where many of us struggle.

We don’t always recognize the need to have a conversation, often defaulting to handling things on our own. When we do see the need, these conversations are frequently experienced as “difficult.” We hesitate, delay, or avoid them altogether — or we engage in ways that are rushed, defensive, or fail to touch on what requires care. As a result, concerns remain unaddressed and possibilities close down.

Engaging in Conversations that Matter goes beyond typical “difficult conversations” workshops. It supports you in developing new ways of engaging directly with others about what matters — to you and to them — and in discovering possibilities for taking care of those concerns together. Rather than offering a set of techniques, the course supports you in cultivating skills and practices that help you turn more readily to conversation as a space for listening, learning, building trust, and coordinating action when needed.

FAQs

"I highly recommend this course. In a world that moves at an ever-accelerating pace — this course feels essential. It invites us to slow down and strengthens our ability to listen, both to ourselves and to others, supporting more effective coordination in our professional and personal lives. This requires practice but the results show up clearly in one’s quality of life. I can attest to that."
